This was my view last night, and pretty similar tonight as I’m parked in the same spot.
if there’s a downside to “free dispersed camping”, it’s that internet is spotty at best. Loading that picture above took about a minute. Kinda like the days of dial-up to AOL! The little bars on my phone move between one and two, with an occasional 3rd bar. But I guess beggars can’t be choosy, eh?
Harry & I drove 20 minutes into town this morning. Town being the touristy downtown area of Santa Fe. I had reservations about finding parking for as long a rig as mine is, and bring able to drive in and out. Not long after I hit the outskirts of the popular area, I secured two spots I was able to drive into, with a loading zone in front of them. Easy in, easy out!
Downtown (tourist) Santa Fe really is lovely! I got to the square where across the street on one side local Indians still sell silver jewelry. That’s the least upscale thing happening there. Plenty of beautiful shops everywhere you turn.
I checked the prices in a few restaurants with outdoor seating, and found them reasonable, but they were all packed. Harry & I made do with a burrito stand at the corner of the square. Yes I shared with him as we ate at a shady bench.
The biggest downside of traveling with a big dog is you really can’t just take him into places. So we spent our time window shopping the area. After two hours, we headed back to the car. That was our meter(s) limit.
Sorry no pictures from the day. The mid-day light made everything look boring. I’ll try to do better tomorrow when we head to Taos.
Likely once I get a place tomorrow night, I’ll be there for three nights without moving. It’s the weekend and that’s when camping gets busier.
Safe travels
